Xero UAE E-Invoicing: FTA PINT-AE Integration 2026
Xero is built for bank feeds, multi-currency, and accountant-managed SMEs β but it does not natively generate PINT-AE XML or submit to the FTA. TrustBill closes the gap with a certified OAuth connector that converts approved Xero invoices and delivers them over the Peppol network.
How TrustBill integrates with Xero
TrustBill connects to Xero through its open REST API and OAuth 2.0 authentication. Once authorised, we read approved invoice and contact data from Xero, apply UAE PINT-AE field mapping, and validate the output against Ministry of Finance rules. Valid invoices are then signed and transmitted through an FTA-accredited service provider on the Peppol 5-corner network. The buyer's ASP receives the invoice and the FTA receives the required Tax Data Document (TDD).
One-time setup guide
Getting started with Xero e-invoicing takes a few minutes and no code:
1. **Create your TrustBill account** β Sign up for free and enter your TRN and business details. 2. **Connect Xero** β Authorise TrustBill through Xero's OAuth login. We only request read access to invoices, contacts, tax rates, and accounts. 3. **Map your tax rates** β Align Xero's UAE VAT rates (5% standard, 0%, exempt) with PINT-AE tax categories. 4. **Review master data** β Confirm customer/supplier TRNs, emirates, and free-zone flags are correct in Xero. 5. **Test and go live** β Send a test invoice, verify PINT-AE validation, then switch to live submission.
Most businesses are ready to issue compliant e-invoices the same day.
PINT-AE compliance for Xero invoices
Xero does not currently produce PINT-AE XML or submit invoices to the FTA directly. Under the UAE e-invoicing mandate, PDF and email invoices will no longer be valid for B2B and B2G transactions once the deadlines take effect. Only structured XML/JSON invoices exchanged through an accredited service provider over the Peppol network will meet legal requirements. TrustBill acts as that ASP connector: it maps Xero invoice data to the PINT-AE data dictionary, generates the XML, applies the required digital signature, and reports the TDD to the FTA.
Key features for Xero users
TrustBill's Xero integration is designed for the way Xero users already work:
- **Bank-feed friendly** β Invoices stay in Xero; we read the same reconciled records your accountant reviews. - **SME-ready** β Built for accountant-managed and founder-led SMEs that need a lightweight path to FTA compliance. - **Multi-currency support** β Xero's multi-currency invoices are converted to AED-equivalent values while preserving the original currency in the PINT-AE payload. - **5% UAE VAT** β Native mapping for standard 5%, zero-rated, and exempt supplies. - **VAT 201 integration** β Submitted invoices feed into your TrustBill VAT 201 draft for EmaraTax filing. - **Status tracking** β Track each invoice from pending to accepted, rejected, or delivered on the Peppol network. - **Error handling** β Validation issues are returned with field-level explanations and suggested fixes. - **Data residency** β Invoice data is encrypted and hosted in the UAE (AWS me-central-1).
Security and OAuth access
TrustBill uses Xero's official OAuth 2.0 flow. We request the minimum read permissions needed to pull invoice, contact, tax, and account data. We never ask for permission to create, modify, delete, or process payments in Xero. All traffic between Xero and TrustBill uses TLS 1.3, data is encrypted at rest, and no Xero credentials are stored. Invoice data is processed and stored in the UAE.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Xero support UAE e-invoicing natively?
No. As of 2026, Xero does not have a native UAE PINT-AE module or direct FTA submission. Businesses using Xero need an FTA-accredited ASP connector such as TrustBill to convert invoices and report them to the FTA.
How long does the Xero e-invoicing setup take?
Most setups take 15 to 30 minutes. If your TRN, tax rates, and customer master data are already correct in Xero, you can start submitting PINT-AE invoices the same day.
Can TrustBill help with VAT 201 reporting?
Yes. Submitted e-invoice data is aggregated into your TrustBill VAT 201 draft, broken down by emirate, VAT rate, and supply type. You still file the final return through EmaraTax, but the numbers are pre-populated from your live invoice stream.
How is my Xero data kept secure?
TrustBill connects through Xero's OAuth 2.0 read-only integration, uses TLS 1.3 in transit, and encrypts data at rest. We do not store Xero passwords or payment credentials, and invoice data stays in the UAE.
Does this work with Xero's multi-currency invoices?
Yes. TrustBill reads the original foreign-currency amount and the AED value from Xero, then uses both in the PINT-AE payload to keep your books and the FTA submission aligned.
