Comparison

TrustBill vs Xero for UAE E-Invoicing

Xero is a strong global cloud accounting platform with a growing UAE user base. It is not, on its own, an Accredited Service Provider for the FTA e-invoicing mandate. This page compares what Xero does today and shows exactly where TrustBill fills the gap.

Two products, different jobs

Xero is an accounting system. TrustBill is a compliance layer that turns what Xero produces into a signed, mandate-compliant PINT-AE XML invoice and submits it through an Accredited Service Provider on the Peppol network.

You don't replace Xero with TrustBill. TrustBill connects to your Xero org via OAuth 2.0 β€” invoices you issue in Xero flow to TrustBill as they're created, get transformed to PINT-AE, and are submitted to the FTA network via our accredited path.

This is important because the 2026–2027 mandate is not satisfied by generating a Xero invoice, or by emailing a PDF, or by exporting XML manually. Submission must go through an accredited ASP. As of the current release, Xero does not appear on the UAE Ministry of Finance's public ASP register.

When to use each β€” TrustBill

  • You already run Xero and don't want to migrate off it just for the FTA mandate
  • You need PINT-AE XML submission through an accredited ASP without waiting for a native Xero UAE profile
  • You need Arabic + English bilingual rendering that is correct out of the box
  • You are a consultancy onboarding many Xero-using SMEs into e-invoicing under one login
  • You want data residency to be firmly UAE (Dubai region) rather than AU/NZ

When to use each β€” Xero

  • You are choosing your first accounting platform β€” Xero is a strong global cloud pick
  • Your team is already on Xero and you value the app ecosystem (bank feeds, payroll, inventory add-ons)
  • You have Xero-certified accountants embedded in your team already
  • You are outside the UAE FTA mandate entirely (e.g. non-VAT-registered or below the threshold)

Frequently asked questions

Can I keep Xero and use TrustBill for the FTA mandate?+

Yes β€” that's the recommended pattern. Xero stays your accounting system; TrustBill connects via Xero's OAuth 2.0 API, pulls invoices as they're issued, transforms them to PINT-AE XML, and submits through our accredited ASP. The FTA acknowledgement UUID is written back to the Xero invoice as an attached note for your audit trail.

Does Xero have its own accredited service provider status in the UAE?+

As of the current release, Xero does not appear on the UAE Ministry of Finance's public ASP register. Xero does support Peppol in some regions (Australia, New Zealand, parts of the EU) β€” but the UAE FTA network is a separate accreditation path. Verify at mof.gov.ae before relying on Xero alone for mandate submission.

How does the Xero β†’ TrustBill integration work technically?+

TrustBill connects to your Xero organisation via Xero's OAuth 2.0 API. On invoice creation in Xero, we pull the payload, transform it to PINT-AE XML (populating all 51 mandatory fields), sign it, and submit through our accredited ASP. Buyer TRN lookup, free-zone flags, and Arabic legal name resolution happen automatically.

What about Xero's built-in Arabic support?+

Xero's UI supports Arabic language selection, but printed invoice templates in Xero are LTR-first by default. Many UAE trades require RTL-first layouts with mirrored line items and VAT category labels β€” TrustBill's invoice renderer is RTL-first by default and covers the FTA's bilingual rendering requirements.

Is TrustBill more expensive than Xero?+

They are different products with different pricing models. TrustBill starts at zero for 50 invoices/month (compliance layer); Xero starts around USD 15–70/month depending on tier (accounting platform). Most UAE Xero shops will pay for both β€” Xero for the books, TrustBill for the mandate.

Try TrustBill with your existing Xero setup

Free tier: 50 invoices/month, no card required. Xero OAuth is a one-click connect. Your invoices in Xero stay in Xero β€” TrustBill only reads them and submits to the FTA.
